With the increase in civil servants taking effect in December of this year, more Malaysians are expected to join the public sector.
Sinar Harian reported that the head of the Public Service Commission (SPA), Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Jailani Muhamed Yunus, believes the salary adjustment will boost the enthusiasm of the target group for applying for jobs in the public service.
“The youth, teenagers and university graduates will be eager to apply in the public service because they are starting to know how much the salary is and see an increase in the salary.”

Jailani said the SPA has started to brace for the surge in applications.
He also pointed out that it’s not merely about the increment that will attract more job seekers in the public sector but also the security of the jobs.
“What is more important is the security element in the public service. So in my personal view, there will be an increase in applications,” Jailani explained.
He added that the exact number of SPA applications will be known in the 1st quarter of 2025.
Earlier, the government shared the details of the increment, which is up to 42.7% and will be implemented in phases starting in December this year.
