LABUAN: While the island has had little luck attracting investors, it is not the case with political representation with Sabah-based Gagasan Rakyat Sabah (GRS), recently setting up its 7th division and its first outside Sabah.

“Labuan only has one parliamentary seat and no State Assembly seat and there were 11 political parties its having a presence on the island and GRS entry makes it a dozen,” said former independent candidate Lau Seng Kiat.

He said it was doubtful that any other parliamentary consistency with a population of about 90,000 and 44,484 eligible voters has as many political parties.

The 11 parties that have a division here are Umno, MCA, MIC (BN) PKR, DAP, Amanah (PH), Bersatu, PAS (Perikatan) and Sabah-based PBS, Warisan and Upko.
