PETALING JAYA: The police are set to conduct more raids soon on undocumented migrants nationwide, says deputy inspector-general of police Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay.
Ayob said they had identified several “hotspots” where migrants could be found.
“The issue of undocumented migrants is not exclusive to the Klang Valley; they can be found in Johor, Kedah, and Kelantan, too,” he told reporters, adding that the police would carry out operations nationwide.
On Dec 21, police detained 1,101 undocumented migrants including two children, and seized contraband worth RM104,000 during a raid at Jalan Silang.

Ayob said the authorities had taken action against more than 600 of the detainees, refusing however to elaborate on the status of those remaining.
He said while the previous Op Khas had focused on illegal businesses set up and controlled by undocumented migrants, future raids would target the accommodations of undocumented migrants.
He added however that the police were facing constraints in the placement of arrested migrants due to the extensive nature of the arrests.
“We face constraints in terms of placing detainees at immigration depots. There may be some limitations, but we will continue to plan carefully,” he said.
