The hotel in question, D’Wharf Hotel & Serviced Residence, served up not only a sandwich but also a generous helping of fries and vegetables on the side. But Malaysians? We just smiled. Because while that price is certainly a steal, we know even better deals exist — and with far more variety.
Take NOA (No One Alone), a breakfast spot I’ve been frequenting so often they probably know my coffee order by heart.
At RM19++, NOA offers a spread that rivals most hotel buffets. Eggs done any way you like, Teochew porridge with all the condiments, noodles, chicken curry (on rotation), sausages and a vibrant assortment of fruits, vegetables, and a variety of breads. But the crown jewel? A large nasi lemak bungkus — fragrant rice, spicy sambal, crunchy anchovies, boiled eggs, peanuts, and cucumbers. The real deal.
And just when you think that’s enough, there’s the giant curry puffs — no empty shells here, these are packed with seasoned fillings that warm the soul. Wash it all down with brewed coffee, tea, or fresh juices. It’s the kind of breakfast that makes you linger, not rush.
This past week alone, I’ve hosted nearly 20 guests at NOA for breakfast. Locals, expats, travellers — all amazed at the variety, quality, and most of all, the value.
Yes, RM7.90 for a hotel sandwich might make headlines, but RM19++ (£3.25) for a full breakfast buffet that feeds both stomach and spirit? That deserves its own viral moment.
So, if you find yourself in Malaysia, skip the overpriced croissants at some chain café. Head to NOA instead. Come hungry, leave happy — and still have enough in your wallet for lunch.
