
Sir Keir Starmer’s former chief of staff Morgan McSweeney has been summoned to appear before the Foreign Affairs Committee of MPs next Tuesday amid the Peter Mandelson vetting scandal.
Mr McSweeney, widely regarded as a protege of Lord Mandelson, resigned in February over his part in the peer’s appointment to the Washington DC posting.
The political strategist will appear at the influential parliamentary committee next Tuesday, following an expected showing this week by Cat Little, the most senior Cabinet Office civil servant, the Press Association understands.
