TELUK INTAN: The Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC) has completed five key development projects in Kampung Sungai Manik. The initiatives are part of the federal government’s MADANI Adopted Village programme.
The projects represent a total investment of almost RM1 million. They aim to improve both physical infrastructure and social facilities within the rural community.
Secretary-General Datuk Shaharuddin Abu Sohot detailed the allocations at a project handover ceremony. The largest portion, RM700,000, was used to upgrade the Dewan Kebudayaan dan Agro Pelancongan.
A further RM80,000 was allocated for surau and restroom improvements. Another RM150,000 funded essential electrical work.
An additional RM40,000 covered maintenance for utility rooms including a garage and storage area. Shaharuddin said the programme focuses on inclusive and sustainable rural empowerment.
“Through this programme, we not only emphasise physical development but also economic, social development, and the empowerment of local identity,” he stated. He highlighted the initiative’s broader positive impact.
The upgrades are expected to improve residents’ living standards and boost the local economy. They are also seen as a contribution to the national tourism sector’s overall development.
Shaharuddin stressed that long-term success requires ongoing commitment. He said sustainability depends on the government, community, and industry players working together.
“The success of a programme does not solely depend on its implementation,” he added. He called for continuous cooperation to ensure the initiative’s effectiveness.
Meanwhile, Shaharuddin urged Kampung Sungai Manik residents to maintain the new facilities. He encouraged them to fully utilise the provided opportunities for their collective benefit.
The MADANI Adopted Village Initiative is a strategic government approach to community development. It seeks to empower rural areas in a holistic manner.
