POLICE in Sungai Petani have discovered the bodies of a mother and her adult son inside a locked home in Bedong, in a case currently classified as a sudden death pending post-mortem results.

The grim discovery was made on Monday after officers received a report from a member of the public at about 6.05pm, according to Kuala Muda district police chief Assistant Commissioner Hanyan Ramlan.

Police were forced to break into the house after finding it locked from the inside.

“The two bodies were those of a mother and her child, namely a son in his 40s and his mother in her 70s.

“One was found in the living room and the other in the kitchen of the house,” he said.

Initial checks found no signs of injuries caused by sharp weapons, he added.

Authorities believe the pair may have been dead for more than 48 hours before they were discovered.
