Mother and two daughters found dead in Ipoh bedroom

POLICE have launched an investigation after a mother and her two daughters were found dead inside a bedroom at their home in Bandar Baru Tambun in Ipoh on Thursday night.

The victims, a 46-year-old woman and her daughters aged 11 and 12, were discovered lifeless at the residence, with authorities finding a container believed to contain remnants of burnt charcoal inside the room.

Ipoh District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Muhammad Najib Hamzah said police received a report regarding the incident at 9.10pm.

He said preliminary examinations conducted by police forensic personnel and forensic pathology experts found no visible injuries or indications of criminal involvement on the victims.

“The case is currently classified as a sudden death report (SDR), although further investigations are still being conducted to determine the actual cause of death,” he said.

Muhammad Najib said post-mortem examinations were scheduled to be conducted on Friday to assist the investigation.

He also appealed to the public to refrain from speculation or circulating unverified information while authorities work to establish the circumstances surrounding the deaths.

“We advise members of the public to avoid making any speculation or spreading information that has not been verified until the investigation is fully completed,” he said. - July 31, 2026
