KUNAK: A 50-year-old motorcyclist was killed in a collision with a lorry at Km6, Jalan Kunak-Lahad Datu, near a junction here on Thursday.
Kunak District Police Chief Supt Rejali Angong said the accident occurred at about 11am while the Mitsubishi Fuso lorry was travelling from Lahad Datu towards Kunak.
He said preliminary investigation found that the lorry was unable to avoid the motorcycle, which had emerged from a junction, due to the close distance between the vehicles.
The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene, while the lorry driver, who is in his 20s, was unhurt.
The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
