
A 33-YEAR-OLD man was injured after being assaulted In Johor Bharu by a group of individuals wielding a wooden object following a road incident near a mosque in Kulai earlier this week.
Kulai district police chief Assistant Commissioner Tan Seng Lee said the incident occurred at about 9.50pm on Tuesday as the victim was riding his motorcycle home after performing prayers at Masjid Sementara Bukit Batu, located within the Kampung Bukit Batu Community Centre area.
“The victim is believed to have overtaken a grey Proton Saga before the car was driven recklessly, overtaking and suddenly stopping in front of him, forcing him to brake his motorcycle abruptly.
“Four unidentified men got out of the car, and one of them struck the victim on the head with a stick, causing him to fall. The other suspects then stomped on the man before fleeing with his motorcycle key,” he said in a statement today.
The victim sustained head injuries requiring five stitches, along with additional injuries to other parts of his body.
Police said efforts are ongoing to trace the suspects, with the case being investigated under Section 279 of the Penal Code for reckless driving and Section 324 for voluntarily causing hurt using a weapon or dangerous object.
Members of the public with information have been urged to contact the Kulai district police headquarters hotline or the investigating officer.
Authorities also noted that footage of the incident has circulated on social media platform X, and advised the public against engaging in speculation that could interfere with ongoing investigations. - March 20, 2026
