PETALING JAYA: A man allegedly attacked another motorcyclist with a meat cleaver after becoming enraged over being honked at along the Federal Highway motorcycle lane in Section 13, Shah Alam, on Tuesday morning.

Shah Alam district police chief Assistant Commissioner Sarudin Samah said police received an emergency call via the MERS 999 line regarding the incident at 8.19am.

He said initial investigations found that the incident occurred around 7am when the victim, a 45-year-old local man, was on his way to work in Kuala Lumpur.

“While travelling along the motorcycle lane on the Federal Highway in Section 13, the victim honked at another motorcyclist who was believed to be obstructing his path,” he told Sinar Harian.

He said the suspect then stopped his motorcycle by the roadside before allegedly attacking the victim with a meat cleaver.

“As a result of the attack, the victim suffered injuries and was taken to Shah Alam Hospital for further treatment.

“The suspect was later arrested by police to assist in investigations,” he said.

The case is being investigated under Section 324 of the Penal Code.
