TAWAU: A motorcyclist was killed in a fatal accident on Batu 15 Jalan Apas, near the junction to Jalan Bukit Quoin, here, around 2pm on Sunday.
The identity of the young man remains unknown, and he was pronounced dead at the scene due to the impact of the crash.
Witnesses reported that the motorcyclist was heading towards Tawau Airport from Batu 10 Jalan Apas when he was struck by a red four-wheel-drive vehicle emerging from the Jalan Bukit Quoin junction.
The victim’s mother and fellow motorcyclist were present at the scene but declined to comment when approached by media personnel.
At press time, the police have not yet released information on the motorcyclist’s identity or the full details of the incident.
The accident caused a one-kilometre traffic jam, with bystanders assisting police in managing the flow of traffic.
