
A 27-YEAR-OLD motorcyclist was killed after becoming trapped beneath a lorry and engulfed in flames in a crash along Jalan Tenang Jaya in Pekan Tenang here on Saturday evening.
The accident is believed to have occurred at about 7pm, with the male victim pronounced dead at the scene.
Labis Fire and Rescue Station operations commander Hairishah Wahid said his team received a report of a fire resulting from a traffic accident at 7.15pm.
Upon arriving at the location, firefighters found a blaze following a collision involving a lorry and a motorcycle.
“As a result of the accident, the rider and a Yamaha LC135 motorcycle were wedged underneath the lorry and caught fire.
“The rider and the motorcycle were almost 90 per cent burnt, while the lorry sustained about 30 per cent fire damage. At the time of the incident, the lorry driver was not at the scene.
“The Fire and Rescue Department’s operations team carried out firefighting efforts before successfully extricating the burnt victim who was trapped beneath the lorry,” he said in a statement.
Hairishah added that the victim’s body was later handed over to the police, and firefighting operations were fully concluded at 9.14pm. - January 4, 2025
