Motorcyclist killed in Lahad Datu crash

LAHAD DATU: A 41-year-old Royal Malaysian Customs Department (JKDM) personnel was killed after his motorcycle collided with a Proton Preve at KM57 along Jalan Lahad Datu-Tungku on Monday.

The motorcycle was heading towards Lahad Datu from Tungku, while the Proton Preve was travelling in the opposite direction when the incident occurred at about 8.10am.

District Police Chief ACP Dzulbaharin Ismail said the Proton Preve was entering a junction to Kampung Sibural on the right side of the road when the motorcycle crashed into it after it suddenly entered his lane.

The impact caused the motorcyclist to suffer serious injuries. He was sent to Tungku Health Clinic by members of the public but was pronounced dead at 9.15am while receiving treatment.

Dzulbaharin added that the case would be investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 and urged witnesses to contact Traffic Investigation Officer Insp.
