
RANAU: A man died after the motorcycle he was riding crashed into a ditch last Monday.
Ranau District Police Chief DSP Simiun Bin Lomudin said the incident happened at Km 27, Jalan Marak-Parak (Kg Tarawas) Ranau, at around 10.30am.
“The man was found dead in a ditch after being crushed by the motorcycle near Timbangan Sawit Kg Tarawas Ranau by the public.
“Preliminary investigation found that the victim was a local man in his early 50s who is a resident of Kg Tarawas, believed to be riding a motorcycle from Kg Perancangan to his home.
“The last time the villager came across the victim was the day before, at about 11am when the victim wanted to return to his house from the orchard. Then the victim was found dead in a ditch the next day,” he said.
According to Simiun, based on the condition of the victim’s body which had started to decompose, he is believed to have died at the scene.
He added the victim’s body was then sent to the Ranau Hospital Forensic Department for an autopsy to find out the cause of death.
“The case is investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, and the public is advised not to speculate.
Simiun requested witness or witnesses to the incident to contact Investigating Officer Inspector Syaurin Suhurani at 088-875222 extension 280 to assist with the investigation.
