Motorcyclist killed in Semporna mishap

SEMPORNA: A motorcyclist was killed and two others injured in an accident involving a motorcycle and Proton Saga FLX at Jalan Kampung Sinallang Tengah, here, Wednesday.

In the noon incident, the motorcyclist succumbed to serious injuries at the scene.

Semporna Fire and Rescue Station Chief, Madzlan Sarman said, the department received a distress call at 12.15pm.

He said a team of personnel in a fire engine was deployed to the scene 10km away.

The team later cleared the scene and called off the operation at 1.10pm after ensuring no other danger at the scene.

Meanwhile, in TAMBUNAN, a 27-year-old man was serious injured when a trailer truck he was driving laden with logs skidded and overturned at Kampung Babagon, here, Tuesday evening.

District Fire and Rescue Station received a call at 6.46pm and 11 members led by Operations Commander and head of the station, Desmond Ak Micky @ Dominic rushed to the scene with machinery.

According to the commander, the victim was trapped in the driver’s side and was removed by firemen.

The victim was given initial treatment by the EMRS team and then sent to Hospital Tambunan for further treatment.
