Motorcyclist killed, traffic policeman injured in PLUS expressway crash

A motorcyclist died and a traffic policeman was injured in a collision on the PLUS expressway emergency lane near Tangkak yesterday.

TANGKAK: A motorcyclist was killed following a collision with a traffic police officer conducting checks in the emergency lane of the North-South Expressway.

The incident occurred at KM170.1 northbound near Tangkak yesterday afternoon.

Tangkak police chief Superintendent Roslan Mohd Talib said police received information about the crash at approximately 2.07 pm.

He stated that a 38-year-old man riding a Suzuki motorcycle collided with the officer during the inspection.

Both victims were rushed to Jasin Hospital, where the motorcyclist was pronounced dead.

The police officer sustained injuries to his leg, arm, and head before being transferred to Melaka Hospital.

Roslan confirmed the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

He warned the public against speculating about the incident.
