RANAU: A 38-year-old local woman became the latest injury victim while scaling Mount Kinabalu after she suffered from breathing difficulty.

Ranau Fire Station Chief Ridwan Mohd Taib said the incident happened in Km 3.3 Pondok Mempening Mount Kinabalu climbing trail, about 3pm, on Friday.

He said a team of four personnel from the Mount Kinabalu search and rescue team (Mosar) led by Operating Officer PBB Kuintin Gangok rushed to the scene.

“On arrival, the team found a climber suffering from Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS) and had trouble breathing.

The victim was then brought down to Timpohon Gate using the Robinson Stretcher method and sent to hospital,” he said.

The case became the first for September and the 36th on Mount Kinabalu so far this year.
