Send Help is one of those films you should walk into with the right mindset. If you’re expecting a story that makes perfect sense, you might end up frustrated. But if you’re there to be entertained, it actually works really well.
Directed by Sam Raimi, known for films like Spider-Man and Drag Me to Hell, this movie blends a bit of everything - thriller, drama, romance, horror and comedy. It is messy in parts, but that’s also where the fun comes in.
What stood out most for me was the humour. It’s not loud or obvious. In fact, it’s quite subtle and sometimes comes in sideways. There were moments that were genuinely funny, but many people in the cinema didn’t seem to catch them. It’s very much a backhanded kind of comedy. You either get it, or you don’t.
The story itself is quite unrealistic. A lot of things that happen feel unlikely, and if you start questioning the logic, you’ll probably find many flaws. But honestly, this is not a film you’re supposed to analyse too deeply. It’s better to just go along with it and enjoy the ride.
Rachel McAdams was excellent. She really carried the film and brought a lot of life into her character. You can tell she was fully committed, and it shows in her performance.
The boss, played by Dylan O'Brien, was good too. He played his role well, though it did feel like he wasn’t quite a match for McAdams’ energy on screen.
Overall, Raimi did a good job with the direction. The film feels unpredictable and a bit chaotic, but in a way that keeps you watching. You never quite know what’s coming next.
In the end, don’t look for perfection here. Just sit back and enjoy it for what it is.
