Newton's Third Law (Telugu, 2016)

Newton's Third Law of Motion is fundamentally different from that of Karma. According to Newton's laws, equal and opposite forces act in tandem to make an object move. They work in opposite directions and do not cancel each other out.
In Karma, however, the focus is more on the philosophical or moral consequences of one's actions. There are no two opposing forces; rather, one action affects another, as in the butterfly effect, where the flutter of a butterfly's wing can cascade into a tornado, as suggested by Edward Norton Lorenz.
In the Karmic sense, actions are actions. They are neither good nor bad actions. Whatever action one takes, it can set off. Nor is promiscuity triggering climate change. Good things happen to bad people and bad things happen to good people. It is all an interplay of players in the primordial soup, which can be swayed by a single flicker of action.
This story is an interesting one that happens to involve two deaths. A young man in his 20s falls from his balcony. A young mother dies in an apparent hit-and-run, leaving her young child staring blankly into space. The police investigate. That was only the prologue. The current storyline shifts to the present, when someone receives a book in the mail about the incident above. The receiver gets hot under the collar and summons the writer to his mansion.
The story then unfolds. The young man, his buddy, his staff nurse mother, his alcoholic, hot-tempered father and his shortcut to wealth, involving a dangerous gangster. On the other side, the young mother receives news that her husband is killed in a fire. The only connection between these two families is that the young man's mother and the young mother are both nurses and working colleagues.
The joy of the storytelling is that it goes from twist to twist without appearing too outlandish for Indian movie standards. 4.5/5
