West Ham boss David Moyes was left disappointed with their defending for Saturday's defeat at Brentford.

The Hammers lost a see-sawing battle 3-2.

Mohammed Kudus struck to cancel out Neal Maupay's opener for Brentford before Jarrod Bowen's effort had West Ham ahead.

However, Brentford leveled through an own-goal, as Dino Mavropanos turned into his own net, before Wolves defender Nathan Collins headed home the winner.

Moyes later said: "Bits of the performance were okay.

"We did quite well at times in the first half although I felt we'd given up too much territory with ten or 15 minutes to go until half-time, which allowed Brentford to grow back into the game more than I'd have liked.

"We set out at half-time to try and get the third goal and try to play better.

"Because we had the two up front I thought, the moment we gave it to those two, we might have a better chance of scoring and we should have done. But the other part of that is we should have defended better.

"We got to half-time 2-1 up and the idea was to not concede any more goals.

"If you don't concede any more then we win the game, but we did concede and I didn't like the goals we let in. They came from second phase set-pieces. The first part of them we'd dealt with and defended them, and then we didn't defend the second part.

"It was a great goal from Mohammed Kudus.

"We missed a couple of players with suspension today and Kurt Zouma had an injury, so we were a little bit short, but there were some good things.

"We got the lead and we tried to play with two up front today.

"But we've come here too often and I hate the feeling that we're losing to Brentford every time. I've left pig-sick every time and I'm leaving again pig-sick."
