PENAMPANG: Moyog Innovation House (MIH) is becoming a hub for local farmers and entrepreneurs to develop agricultural products and explore innovation.
Its founder, Juddy Lasius, said the centre provides a space for the local community to gather, learn and participate in various training programmes, workshops and activities related to agricultural innovation and environmental recycling.
“MIH is a place to develop agricultural produce into high-value downstream products, including roselle, herbal tea made from lemongrass, pandan and ginger, as well as torch ginger, tuhau and pineapple sauce.
“At MIH, we teach farmers in Moyog to grow roselle and teach them how to innovate their produce into products.
“So, these farmers are not only farmers, but they can become entrepreneurs who are able to produce their own roselle products,” he said when met during the Kembara Merdeka Jalur Gemilang (KMJG) 2026 convoy’s stop at MIH here.
Juddy said MIH also has a small processing centre where women from the surrounding areas can use the machinery provided at a minimal fee.
He said he received the machinery from the Department of Industrial Development and Research (DIDR) in 2019, which was subsequently used to expand product production at MIH.
Meanwhile, Juddy said the selection of MIH as one of the stops for the KMJG 2026 convoy provided an opportunity to introduce the centre and the efforts of the Moyog community to people from outside the area.
He said the presence of various government agencies and Village Development and Security Committees (JKKKs) during the programme had also encouraged the local community.
“We are very excited to have been selected as a stop for the KMJG convoy and I am very grateful to meet many representatives from government agencies and JKKKs who came.
“With programmes like this, it can help us further promote Moyog Innovation House to the wider community,” he said.
During the visit, the approximately 50-year-old MIH building was also given a fresh look by convoy participants, giving a new lease of life to the location which serves as a community learning and innovation space.
Earlier, the KMJG 2026 convoy also visited the Penampang District Police Headquarters (IPD) and the Penampang Municipal Council (MPP), besides handing over Jalur Gemilang kits and Sabah flags as symbolic support for the One House One Jalur Gemilang (1R1JG) Campaign.
