MPD probes email bomb threat at DLSU Manila

(UPDATED) The Manila Police District (MPD) is investigating an alleged bomb threat sent through email to faculty members of De La Salle University-Manila’s Brother Andrew College of Education (BAGCED) on Monday.

In its report, the MPD said DLSU security officials Jose Billy O. Aguirre and Colin G. Papa reported the incident to Malate Police Station at around 12:40 p.m.

Initial investigation showed that BAGCED Associate Dean Philip Rentillo received the email and relayed it to university security personnel.

Police coordinated with the MPD Anti-Cyber Crime Team for technical assistance regarding the email sent from traknisky@photo.com.

The MPD’s Explosive Ordnance Disposal and K9 unit began a bomb sweep and assessment of the university premises at around 2 p.m. as a precautionary measure.

The bomb sweep and threat assessment were still ongoing as of 3:15 p.m., according to the authorities.
