SHAH ALAM, July 3 — The Kuala Selangor Municipal Council (MPKS) has issued six compounds against premises in Sungai Buloh and Sungai Sembilang, Jeram, which were operated by foreign nationals without proper approval.
It said the operation, conducted yesterday, also saw four premises issued with closure notices and the seizure of business equipment for operating without valid licences.
“The Immigration Department of Malaysia also conducted checks on foreign individuals and detained 14 of them for further investigation into their travel documents and legal status in the country.
“This firm action reflects the commitment of all involved agencies in curbing illegal business activities and ensuring that all business operators comply with the law,” MPKS said in a statement today.
In addition to the Immigration Department, the operation also involved the Companies Commission of Malaysia (SSM) and MPKS’ Technical Department, with 52 officers and personnel participating.
The council also urged members of the public to report any suspicious or unlicensed business activities to the authorities in the interest of community well-being.
“MPKS will continue to intensify such operations from time to time to ensure that the business environment in the Kuala Selangor district remains conducive, regulated, and in accordance with the law,” it said.
