SELAYANG, Sept 23 — The Selayang Municipal Council (MPS) has allocated nearly RM500,000 this year to develop infrastructure facilities at geoparks under its administration.

Selayang Deputy Mayor Adi Faizal Ahmad Tarmizi said the initiative aims to boost the state’s tourism industry ahead of Visit Selangor Year 2025.

“MPS has earmarked nearly RM500,00 to develop basic facilities at all geoparks. For instance, in Batu Arang, we will build public toilets, parking lots, and lamps for the convenience of local and international tourists.

“This is among the efforts to prepare conducive facilities for tourists and work with various agencies including Tourism Selangor to promote geoparks,” he said.

He was met after the closing ceremony and awards presentation at the 9th Kundang Jet Sports Geopark Championship 2024 at Tasik Biru Kundang here yesterday.

Adi Faizal said the championship, which comprised six categories, was meaningful as it is being held for the first time since 2016.

“This jetski championship is the start of future activities, especially at Tasik Biru Kundang, which is popular as a watersports location.

“Other than promoting watersport events, (the championship) will bring positive effects to petty traders and entrepreneurs as it can boost the local economy,” he said.
