MPs to seek AI fraud safeguards, figures on Malaysians held abroad over drugs

THE government will face questions in Parliament today on safeguards for Malaysians who fall victim to fraud, the proposed AI Governance Bill and citizens detained or charged overseas for drug-related offences.

She will also ask how effectively airport scanning technology detects drugs and about the current state of airport security.

Separately, Mohd Nazri Abu Hassan (PN-Merbok) will ask the Education Minister about plans to incorporate AI literacy into the school curriculum through the AI Literacy Guide.

Ronald Kiandee (PN-Beluran) will seek clarification from the Foreign Minister on Malaysia’s objectives in participating in BRICS as a partner country and the added value it offers compared with existing bilateral cooperation.

Sh Mohmed Puzi Sh Ali (BN-Pekan) will ask the Agriculture and Food Security Minister about the economic returns from the Malaysia Agriculture, Horticulture and Agrotourism Show (Maha), including its benefits for small-scale operators.

The Dewan Rakyat is also scheduled to continue winding-up proceedings on the Supply Bill 2027 involving the ministries of Plantation and Commodities, Communications, Human Resources, Economy, Youth and Sports, and Finance, before voting on the Bill. - October 29, 2026
