MPWS to spearhead strategic women’s empowerment and policy in Sabah

KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah Women’s Advisory Council (MPWS) is set to function as the state government’s primary think tank, focusing on sustainable policies and strategic frameworks for women’s development.

Chairperson Datuk Dr. Rosmawati Lasuki affirmed this commitment following a courtesy call to Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor at Menara Kinabalu, where the council presented its recent achievements and future direction under the Sabah Maju Jaya vision.

A key highlight of the briefing was the Global Women Leaders (GLOW) program, which targets education, economics, and leadership.

Following an assessment in 2025, 75 participants have been selected for intensive training to enhance local entrepreneurship in sectors such as food, cosmetics, and crafts, while grooming female talent for global competitiveness.

Additionally, the council formally invited the Chief Minister to officiate the Sabah State Women’s Day celebration on September 4, 2026, which will be held alongside a Women Leaders Symposium to strengthen leadership networks across the state.
