
Kota Kinabalu: The Sabah Women’s Advisory Council (MPWS) treated 50 orphans to a breaking of fast on Thursday.
MPWS Chairman, Datuk Dr Tarsiah TZ Taman, said the orphans were from Taman Kingfisher Likas Charity Orphanage, Maahad Tahfiz As Sohabah, Tuaran and Sekolah Menengah Agama (SMA) Kota Kinabalu.
“This is an annual event held in the month of Ramadan to treat those who are less fortunate.
“MPWS is pleased to be able to share the joy with these orphans and hopes this event can give them a smile in this holy month.
“In addition, MPWS also held a charity pilgrimage programme to orphanages around the Lok Kawi, Sembulan and Tanjung Aru areas to treat and deliver donations to those in need throughout the month of Ramadan this year,” she
said when delivering donations and duit raya to the orphans at the iftar ceremony.
At the same event, a brief tazkirah titled ‘Fadilat Bersedekah’ was held delivered by the Chairman of Maahad Tahfiz As Syafie Tuaran, Anuar Ali.
Also present were members of the MPWS Main Committee, Prof Associate Dr Imelda Albert Gisip, Dr Nirmal Kaur, Captain Eliza Goh and the staff of the Sabah Women’s Affairs Department.
