THE question of who “Mr R” is has been circulating widely online, especially after businessman Victor Chin linked the name to a corporate mafia case involving NexG.

Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli has now stepped in to explain the situation and reveal who he believes is behind the name.

To understand the issue, Rafizi says one first needs to separate it into two different matters.

The first involves a PKR Member of Parliament who was allegedly paid RM9.5 million. Based on the information shared, this individual is believed to be a senior figure with strong connections to top leadership.

The second issue is where “Mr R” comes in. According to Victor Chin’s claims, Mr R acted as a go-between — someone who communicated and coordinated between a group described as a “corporate mafia” and NexG shareholders.

Things appear to have escalated around October 2025, when authorities froze several company accounts.

Around that time, Chin began communicating more frequently with Mr R, expressing concern that the pressure would undo years of work.

At the same time, Chin arranged the RM9.5 million payment to a politician whom he believed could help ease the situation. Meanwhile, Mr R was allegedly involved in discussions about transferring large amounts of NexG shares, including hundreds of millions tied to different parties.

As events unfolded, Mr R reportedly provided account details for transferring shares and later confirmed that a large portion had already been passed to his “boss.”

Despite this, Chin claimed the pressure continued, saying he had already given up everything but was still being pushed.

There are also claims that Mr R could influence actions involving authorities, including freezing and unfreezing accounts.

In some messages, he warned that all share transfers needed to be completed properly, or there would be consequences.

In November 2025, a key meeting reportedly took place at NexG’s headquarters.

During that meeting, one individual allegedly claimed control over the company and said he had influenced the government in securing major contracts.

Mr R was said to be present and was later appointed as NexG’s Corporate Advisor.

Based on company records and public information, Rafizi identified Mr R as Sandraruben Neelamagham aka Ruben, a lawyer who holds roles both in NexG and another tech company.

This matches earlier reports about his involvement.

Someone with greater influence?

Still, Rafizi points out that Mr R may not be the key decision-maker. In the messages, Mr R frequently refers to a “boss,” suggesting someone with greater influence behind the scenes.

From the available information, Rafizi suggests that this “boss” could be Datuk Farhash Wafa Salvador.

He also raised concerns about the level of influence described in the allegations, and called on Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to address the matter directly.

“I have fulfilled my promise to reveal who Mr R is,” added Rafizi. – March 26, 2026
