MR D.I.Y.’s retail technology and automation arm, MR. ROBOT has entered a strategic partnership with AGIBOT to integrate the latest set of smart retail robotics solutions that can eventually be rolled out internationally.
Under this collaboration, MR. ROBOT will take charge of designing, integrating, and testing robotic solutions that actually make sense in retail environments, while MR D.I.Y. International’s extensive regional store network will act as the main platform for pilots and eventual rollout.
The focus isn’t on flashy demos, but on real use cases across inventory management, in-store operations, customer engagement, and even supply chain optimisation, all areas where automation can deliver immediate operational impact.
On the other hand, AGIBOT is in charge of embodied intelligence, AI-driven robotics, and large-scale robot production, while MR. ROBOT contributes deep knowledge of retail operations and systems integration. Together, they’re aiming to create a scalable and repeatable model for smart retail robotics that can be deployed across multiple international markets.
MR. ROBOT CEO Edwin Yap explained that the division was set up specifically to future-proof retail operations through real-world intelligent technology, adding that working with AgiBot gives them access to advanced embodied intelligence that complements their automation capabilities, while MR D.I.Y.’s stores provide a live environment to test, refine, and scale solutions that improve both operations and customer experience.
From AGIBOT’s side, Malaysia Country CEO Steven Ding highlighted that retail is one of the most demanding environments for embodied intelligence, and partnering with MR. ROBOT allows AgiBot to deploy its technology at scale within one of the world’s largest home improvement retail networks.
In the bigger picture, this partnership places MR D.I.Y. International as a testbed for next-generation retail robotics, with both companies exploring how intelligent robots can support the evolving needs of modern retail and push smart retail transformation across the markets where MR D.I.Y. operates.
