All 58 MARA Junior Science Colleges will have full-time wardens next year, replacing teachers in the role to tackle bullying and improve student welfare.

KUALA LUMPUR: Full-time wardens will be deployed at all 58 MARA Junior Science Colleges nationwide starting next year.

Majlis Amanah Rakyat chairman Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki announced the move, stating it would relieve teachers from warden duties.

He confirmed the wardens would be selected from former uniformed personnel through a strict vetting process.

These personnel will also undergo specific training to understand MARA’s education philosophy and operational framework.

“Teachers will no longer be burdened with warden duties… just focus on teaching and student development,” Asyraf Wajdi said in a Facebook post.

The initiative follows a successful six-month pilot project launched in August last year.

That pilot involved placing two Malaysian Armed Forces veterans as wardens at two selected MRSMs.

The project’s primary aims were to address bullying cases and reduce the non-academic workload on teachers.

Asyraf Wajdi noted the nationwide expansion was approved after a positive evaluation of the pilot programme’s implementation.

The move is expected to enhance student discipline and safety across the residential school network.
