A food rider, Mohamad Hasif Syazani Zulkifle, pleaded not guilty in the Sessions Court today to a charge of committing mischief by fire against an auxiliary police car at the Mutiara Damansara Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) Station last week. The accused is charged with setting fire to a white Proton Preve car owned by the Prasarana police at 1:17 am on February 5, with the offense framed under Section 435 of the Penal Code. If convicted, this offense carries a maximum prison sentence of 14 years and a fine.
Deputy public prosecutor Anis Hakimah Ibrahim proposed bail at RM15,000 with one surety, also instructing the accused not to interfere with witnesses and to report to a nearby police station monthly. Mohamad Hasif's lawyer, Kailash Sharma, argued for minimal bail, emphasizing his client's lack of a criminal record and the absence of any flight risk. The judge, Syahliza Warnoh, granted bail at RM7,000 with one surety and accepted the additional conditions requested by the prosecution. The next court appearance is scheduled for March 21.
In a separate court session before Magistrate Farah Azura Mohd Saad, Mohamad Hasif pleaded not guilty to another charge of mischief, involving scrawling on the wall of the MRT station at 1:10 am on the same day. This charge falls under Section 427 of the Penal Code, carrying a penalty of up to five years in prison, a fine, or both if convicted. Magistrate Farah Azura set bail at RM2,500 with one surety and scheduled the next mention for March 21.
