A Malaysian settled in Australia, blogger Hussein Abdul Hamid raised questions on the social ills and bureaucracy affecting Malaysian society.

“Is there a need for the Unit Tindakan Khas (UTK) or Special Action Unit in the Malaysian Police? What is their function? To guard VVIPs? To take care of the too difficult cases that the police cannot handle in the ‘normal way?

“To take care of people like Pastor Raymond Koh? Because if there was no UTK there would not be any reason for Malaysian Police to recruit people like Sirul and alike,” said Hussein who grew up embracing the amazing diversity of race, culture, and spirituality of the life around me while in Malaysia and Australia where he resides now.

According to him, “In that diversity, there was a unity that embraced us all as kin. Today, the diversity stays, but the unity and kinship are no more.”

Who is Sirul? Sirul Azhar Umar, one of the commandos sent to murder Mongolian national Altantuya Shaariibuu, is now a free man in Australia after a High Court there ruled against indefinite detention.

Hussein questioned the Malaysian conscience – “Are we to stand around and watch Sirul become, once again, the pawn of others to fulfil their own agendas - at the expense of Sirul’s? And do not forget the others…the families of P Balasubramanium, Altantuya, Sirul, and Azilah...to name a few.”

Sirul, a former UTK policeman and later convicted is now a free man and was released by the Australian Immigration.

“I hope this time around, for Sirul at the very least, common sense will prevail. What matters is that whatever the price, whatever it takes, and whatever the consequences....truth must prevail. As the truth should prevail in the case of Pastor Raymond Koh! Enough said.”

So really…where did it all begin?

Sirul Azhar Umar’s story did not start with the murder of Altantuya. It did not begin when Razak Baginda was 'awarded' the contract to purchase those submarines. It really had its beginning when Najib became PM ...and maybe if you want…. go back earlier in time when the insidious culture of corruption was allowed to take root within Umno, Hussein analysed.

“It is because of corruption and greed, that Altantuya was murdered. You need to stand back and take a helicopter view of this Altantuya saga that involved so many other players. The main stakeholders are UMNO, Najib, Razak Baginda, Altantuya, and TRUTH!

“The others are just bit players and victims of circumstance. Let those who have been inadvertently sucked up into this insidious vortex of corruption and greed be given the opportunity to have their tales told and, if deserved, be compensated for their pain and suffering.

“Let us go to the root of this saga - the purchase of the Submarines. Whatever happened to those Submarines? Was there ever a need to buy Submarines for the Malaysian Navy? Was there a need to appoint an agent, a go-between…call it whatever you want…was there a need to give someone a commission of RM $500 million …or more to the point…what has Razak Baginda or Perimekar, a Malaysian company of which Baginda’s wife was the primary shareholder, done to deserve the RM$500 million paid for services rendered in the purchase of the Submarine?

“If there was no Submarine contract, there would not have been that escapade through Europe that Razak took with Altantuya…no need to have Altantuya ‘assist” him in the negotiations for the purchase of the submarines….no need for Razak to promise Altantuya any commission….no need for her to come to Razak Baginda’s house to ask for that commission…no need for Azilah and Sirul to be tsked with ‘dealing’ with Altantuya …and hence there will be no murder and all the subsequent events that happened after the murder of Altantuya,” commented Hussein.

He started writing about what he saw happening around in the environment. That is how he started his blog under the pen name, STEADYAKU.

An open and level-headed Hussein says in his blog: “Come, read what I write. Agree to disagree if you must. Share your thoughts with me. Some men see things as they are, and say why. Let us dream of things that never were, and ask why can’t Malaysia be what we want it to be….a nation for all of us that calls MALAYSIA home.”

Was Razak Baginda acquitted because Musa Safri was not called to testify?

Hussein Abdul Hamid's analysis

1. The Altantuya murder

Here are some information not known to the public. The Judge said that among the reasons Razak Baginda was acquitted of Altantuya's murder was because the prosecution did not call Najib's aide-de-camp DSP Musa Safri as a witness at any time during the trial. Musa Safri was the liason with the two UTK Policemen who killed Altantuya. The Judge said Musa Safri's testimony would have been critical to the case evidence, yet he was not called as a witness by the prosecution. No prizes for guessing why.

The Police had from very early on figured out that Razak Baginda was closely involved in the murder of Altantuya. On the night of Altantuya's murder, Razak Baginda made multiple telephone calls to DSP Musa Safri - to check on the progress of the night's events. The Police had obtained the records of all the calls that Razak Baginda made to DSP Musa Safri that night. If DSP Musa Safri had been called as a witness, this evidence would have been made known in Court and Razak Baginda would have been seriously incriminated.. Since Musa Safri was not called as a witness this crucial evidence was never presented to the Court and Razak Baginda was acquitted.
