
KENINGAU: A 31-year-old man was charged in the Magistrate’s Court here on Thursday with killing his mother.
Elekson Langak, was brought before Magistrate Flavian Edward Henry, to face the charge against him.
However, no plea was recorded from Elekson as his plea would be taken after the case transfer to the High Court.
Elekson is accused of murdering his 56-year-old mother at 2pm on Sept 11 this year at a rented house in Kg Katagayan, Tambunan.
The offence, under Section 302 of the Penal Code, carries either the death penalty or life imprisonment of 30 to 40 years, with mandatory whipping of at least 12 strokes for male convicts under 50 if not sentenced to death.
The court set Oct 29 this year for mention and ordered Elekson to be remanded further pending the disposal of his case as the charge against him has no provision for bail.
Prosecuting Officer ASP Daniel Dominic appeared for the prosecution while Elekson was not represented.
Meanwhile, in Tawau, a 35-year-old jobless claimed trial at the High Court here on Thursday to murdering a female roti canai seller, in a banana plantation area in Lahad Datu three years ago.
Md Ridzuan Abd Ahmad Zaini Logan who holds only a birth certificate as his document, made the plea before Judicial Commissioner Steve Ritikos, after the charge was read to him.
Ridzuan, a father of five, is accused of killing one Sirlin Salleh, in the bushes in Kg Pisang between 6am and 8am on Nov 14, 2023.

The court fixed Oct 1 this year for further mention the case and ordered Ridzuan to be remanded further.

Previously, it was reported that the woman, who did not have any identification documents, was found by her family members in a bushes area near a banana farm at about 600 meters from her house.
The victim, who was also a mother of five, was believed to have left home to her workplace at 6.15am on that day and passed through the said bushy area.
It was reported that an initial examination found signs of blunt-force impact to the woman’s head and slash wounds caused by a sharp weapon on her neck.
