Murder suspect who turned himself in may be a serial killer, DA warns

• Marcelino Castro, 28, has been charged with two counts of murder after turning himself in to San Jose police on September 19 and confessing to two killings.
• Castro led investigators to two separate bodies hidden along the Guadalupe River following his confession.
• Prosecutors say Castro strangled both men, slitting the throat of an acquaintance in the first attack and striking a stranger with a rock in the second.
• Deputy District Attorney Michael Gadeberg warned the case may represent the start of a serial killer who acted without an apparent motive.
• San Jose authorities are continuing to investigate whether there are additional victims connected to the suspect.
