Proceedings against two Myanmar men over a countryman’s death are delayed for a Myanmar-language interpreter, as the victim died from head trauma.

GEORGE TOWN: The murder trial of two Myanmar nationals has been postponed to allow for a Myanmar-language interpreter to be appointed.

Magistrate Tunku Intan Nadiah Tunku Mohammed Nazarin set the new date of April 23 as the accused do not understand Malay.

The accused, Myat Thu Khaing and Sein Win Aung, are charged in connection with the death of a fellow countryman last month.

The body of a man in his 20s was discovered in a vacant lot at Gat Lebuh Macallum in the early hours of March 9.

Timur Laut police chief ACP Abdul Rozak Muhammad said the victim was found with head injuries during a police patrol.

An autopsy confirmed the cause of death was blunt force trauma to the head.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Siti Marissa Safina Saiful Adli appeared for the prosecution, while both accused were unrepresented.

The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
