MUSEO del Galeón, an experiential maritime museum developed under SM Prime Holdings Inc., is expanding its corporate partnerships and visitor programs as it strengthens the cultural and tourism offering of the SM Mall of Asia (MOA) Complex in Pasay City.
The four-level, 9,000-square-meter museum, which opened in May, has welcomed thousands of visitors, including students, families, tourists, corporate groups and culture enthusiasts.
The museum uses immersive storytelling, interactive exhibits and live programming to showcase the Philippines’ maritime history, particularly its role in the Manila-Acapulco Galleon Trade.
Its main attraction is a full-scale version of the 17th-century Galeón Espíritu Santo, crafted from fiberglass by local artisans.
The museum is also seeking greater participation from the private sector through sponsorships and brand collaborations.
Companies and individuals can sponsor one of the museum’s permanent installations featuring 181 floating galleons, with each sponsored vessel carrying the name of its supporter.
“There is a real opportunity for the private sector to become part of this story — not simply as sponsors, but as partners in preserving our heritage and bringing Philippine maritime history to a much wider audience,” Museo del Galeón Operations Director Chiqui Batac said.
“Museo del Galeón also gives companies new ways to engage clients and customers through culture, storytelling and shared experiences,” she added.
The museum has attracted support from business leaders and companies across various industries, while its location within the MOA Complex has allowed it to reach a wider mix of visitors.
Beyond regular museum visits, Museo del Galeón has been hosting private tours, workshops, talks and after-hours experiences.
One recent after-hours program combined museum access with curated cocktails, a guided cocktail journey and maritime trivia in collaboration with partner brands.
The museum plans to roll out more after-hours programs, expert-led talks, youth workshops, and brand collaborations to attract diverse audiences and encourage repeat visits.
The museum forms part of the broader offering of the MOA Complex, one of SM Prime’s major mixed-use developments, which brings together retail, entertainment, hospitality, offices, and other leisure destinations.
Through Museo del Galeón, SM Prime is adding a cultural and heritage component to the complex while providing companies with opportunities to engage visitors through events, partnerships and experiential activities.
