Enoki mushrooms sold in Texas and Florida are being recalled after product samples tested positive for Listeria monocytogenes, according to notices published by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. The affected products were distributed by HH Fresh Trading and include 150-gram packages sold through local wholesalers.

The recall follows laboratory testing conducted by health officials in Florida. According to the FDA, no illnesses linked to the products had been reported as of May 14, 2026, though consumers are being urged to return the mushrooms for a refund due to the potential health risks associated with listeria exposure.

The FDA notices also reference a separate recall involvingIQ Enoki Mushrooms with code “UI775.” Both recalled products were packaged in 150-gram bags and tested positive for the bacteria.

FDA Details Distribution and Testing Timeline

HH Fresh Trading, based in Los Angeles, recalled 120 cases of its Enoki Mushroom 150g product after being notified by the FDA that samples collected in Florida had tested positive for Listeria monocytogenes. According to the company announcement published by the FDA, the mushrooms were distributed in Texas before later being redistributed to Florida wholesalers.

The recalled HH Fresh Trading mushrooms carry the code “4711498860002” and were sold in plastic packaging under the HH Fresh Trading brand name. The company stated that the affected batch was initially sold to Texas on February 23, 2026. The Florida Health Department reportedly tested the mushrooms on April 20, with positive results returned on April 28.

According to the FDA notice, HH Fresh Trading was informed of the findings on May 11, prompting the recall action. The agency said the recall is being carried out with the knowledge of the FDA.

Consumers who purchased the recalled mushrooms have been instructed to return them to the original place of purchase for a full refund. HH Fresh Trading also provided a consumer contact number foradditional questions regarding the recall process. The FDA said the products were sold exclusively to local wholesalers in Texas and Florida. No additional states were identified in the company announcement.

Health Officials Warn of Serious Listeria Risks

Listeria monocytogenes is a bacterium that can cause foodborne illness, particularly among vulnerable populations. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, infections can become severe in older adults, pregnant women, newborns, and individuals with weakened immune systems.

The CDC states that symptoms may include fever, muscle aches, headache, confusion, stiff neck, diarrhea, and other gastrointestinal issues. In more serious cases, listeria infection may lead to convulsions, loss of balance, or complications during pregnancy, including miscarriage, stillbirth, premature delivery, and life-threatening infections in newborn infants.

Healthy individuals may experience shorter-term symptoms, though the illness can still require medical attention depending on severity. According to the CDC guidance cited in the recall coverage, people considered at higher risk who develop flu-like symptoms within two months of consuming contaminated food should seek medical care.

As of the FDA’s latest published update on May 14, no illnesses connected to the recalled mushrooms had been reported. Federal officials continue to advise consumers not to eat the affected products and to dispose of them or return them for reimbursement.
