Music Travel Love shares reimagined songs on Philippine tour

For Music Travel Love, every song they perform is more than a cover — it’s a chance to reinterpret a familiar melody through their own artistic lens. That approach has helped brothers Bob and Clint Moffatt build a global following, one that brought them back to the Philippines for a three-city tour with special guest Dave Moffatt.

The sibling duo performed at Limketkai Atrium in Cagayan de Oro, Waterfront Cebu City Hotel & Casino in Cebu, and New Frontier Theater in Quezon City from June 26 to 28.

Before launching Music Travel Love, the brothers first found success as members of The Moffatts. They later gained global popularity through acoustic performances filmed during their travels and shared on their YouTube channel.

Ahead of the tour, Music Travel Love met with the media alongside Dave Moffatt to reflect on their musical journey and discuss what lies ahead.

Raised in a musically inclined family, the siblings said they developed their passion for music at an early age and continue to view their careers as a process of learning and discovery.

“I’ve felt like in the last 10 years I’ve started to really love music more,” they said.

Before adopting the name Music Travel Love, the project was originally called Endless Summer. Since then, the duo has built an online community that spans generations.

Looking back on that journey, they stressed the importance of embracing growth and continually refining their craft. One of the most rewarding parts of the creative process, they said, is discovering a song and finding a fresh way to interpret it. They also shared that they regularly reassess their work as musicians, recognizing when they’ve drifted creatively and need to refocus.

That mindset shapes the way they approach every performance. Rather than simply covering songs, they aim to make each one their own. As an example, they pointed to Celine Dion, whose interpretations of songs originally recorded by other artists became closely associated with her.

When choosing material, the duo said emotional connection matters more than the era in which a song was written.

“We’re not locked into any era. Melody is pretty important to what we do,” they said.

The brothers also reflected on today’s music landscape, noting that every generation has its own songwriting style and melodic sensibilities. They observed that many contemporary songs rely more heavily on repetition than those of earlier decades.

“When you’re doing a song on acoustic guitar and just vocals, the core of the song is exposed,” they said. “Everything is so hinged upon repetition and production of the song rather than the song itself.”

Because of that, they admitted it has become more difficult to find recent songs that work well in a stripped-down acoustic arrangement while allowing the melody to stand on its own. Still, they believe Filipino listeners appreciate the same qualities that inspire them.

“People here, they love music in a different way than the rest of the world. So many Filipinos are good singers because they truly love melody and they love singing,” they said.

The duo also expressed gratitude for the support they continue to receive from Filipino fans.

“Even though our families may not visit here as much as we do, there’s a lot of gratitude in our homes for the Filipino people and what they’ve done for our families. So I hope that our music has had that impact on them as well,” they said.

Joining them on the Philippine tour was their brother Dave Moffatt, much to the delight of longtime fans of The Moffatts. The siblings previously reunited on Music Travel Love releases “You’re Still The One,” “Paint My Love,” and “Nothing’s Gonna Change My Love.”

While grateful for the many artists they’ve worked with over the years, they said performing with their brother remains especially meaningful.

“Maybe one day in the future all four of us would be able to figure out a way to do that,” they added.
