KUALA LUMPUR - A 46-year-old musician has been arrested for allegedly attacking his housemate with a metal rod following a dispute over the slamming of a bathroom door at their rented residence in Pandan Indah, Ampang.

According to Ampang Jaya police chief Azam Ismail, the victim, a 52-year-old cook, was awakened at 6:30 AM by the noise of the bathroom door being slammed.

In retaliation, he slammed the door back, which prompted the musician to come out of his room wielding a metal rod, believed to be part of a guitar stand.

“This led to a heated argument, during which he allegedly hit the cook.

The musician also threatened to summon his friends to attack his housemate. The cook, who sustained injuries to his hands, filed a police report on June 30.

The musician was arrested on July 2, and a black guitar stand was confiscated.

“He was released on police bail after providing his statement,” Azam said.

Azam also noted that the housemates had previously argued when the musician refused to lower the volume of his music despite multiple complaints.

Police are currently investigating the incident for charges of voluntarily causing hurt and criminal intimidation. - July 4, 2025
