When Adil—known to his fans as Adieu on Instagram (@Adieuofficial)—announced his decision to attend Musicians Institute (MI) in Hollywood, we imagined a modest school tucked away in a quiet part of Los Angeles. Little did we realise MI is right on the bustling Hollywood Boulevard, surrounded by stars—both those on the Walk of Fame and the aspiring ones inside its walls.

This vibrant location is a fitting metaphor for MI itself: a hub of global talent converging in the city synonymous with entertainment. From Brazil to India, China to Malaysia, young dreamers flock to this renowned institution to hone their craft and prepare for the world stage.

With a somewhat competitive 78% acceptance rate, MI attracts serious talent. While its small enrollment of 582 students fosters an intimate and focused environment, its influence stretches across the music industry. From Music Performance to Recording Arts and Instrument Mechanics, MI offers cutting-edge programmes designed to launch promising careers.

We’ve encountered students at MI whose journeys are nothing short of inspiring. One 21-year-old drummer from India defied societal expectations to follow his passion, despite his family’s initial hesitation. His mother mortgaged their home to support his dreams, and MI recognised his talent with a partial scholarship.

Adil’s fellow collegia an 18-year-old singer from Mumbai, has already performed at venues like the Hard Rock Café on Hollywood Boulevard and earned a full scholarship to Berklee College of Music. These stories of determination resonate deeply with us as we reflect on our son’s path.

Adil, a self-taught guitarist, was already making waves before MI. He released albums that caught the attention of Strandberg Guitars in Sweden, earning him the distinction of being one of their youngest ambassadors. With a blend of hard work and innate talent, he secured financial aid from MI, supplemented by the Malaysian Arts Foundation (YSB).

Now, as he prepares to attend the National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) Convention in Anaheim, it’s clear Adil is on the cusp of a breakthrough. Through Adieu, he’s crafting a sound that bridges genres and cultures, embodying the spirit of MI and the global music community it fosters.

MI is more than a school; it’s a launchpad for dreamers. From its state-of-the-art facilities to its industry connections, it offers a fertile ground for creativity and innovation. The stories that emerge from MI—of sacrifice, perseverance, and triumph—are a testament to the transformative power of music.

We, as fellow Malaysians take immense pride in watching Adil thrive. His journey from KL to the heart of Hollywood reflects the universal truth that passion and persistence can turn dreams into reality.

To young artists everywhere: the world needs your voice, your music, your story. Follow your passion fearlessly, and let institutions like MI guide you. Whether on Hollywood Boulevard or a stage halfway across the world, your moment awaits—seize it.
