To all my young readers,
On the occasion of Thalapathy Vijay's unsurpassed and great victory in the Tamil Nadu polls recently, I would like to take this moment to impart an important life lesson to you.
You see, if you find that people are ignoring you, undermining you, making things difficult for you, looking down on you, laughing at you, insulting or humiliating you, what it means is that you haven't won yet.
Once you win, those who are ignored you will will stand in line to shake your hand, those who who looked down on you will be the first to support you and even those who opposed you will want to be your friends.
One day, I truly hope you will all have the satisfaction of Vijay, who has even the likes of PN congratulating him on his success one day, and Anwar Ibrahim calling him his “friend” the next day.
There are only two things that are really important in life.
One is the pursuit of happiness and the other is the pursuit of success.
To be happy you have to be better than who you were.
To be successful you have to be better than everybody else.
To pursue happiness is much more worthwhile than to pursue success, but to pursue success is much easier than to pursue happiness.
So when in doubt, by all means, pursue success.
As difficult as it is to pursue success, to pursue happiness is much harder. So if you can't even find success, forget about your chances of finding happiness.
And though success is of lesser value and provides inferior meaning as compared to happiness, it will still provide a lot of meaning and value.
You can't expect the world to change no matter how badly it makes you feel about yourself.
The only thing that you can change is yourself, and it is only when you change yourself , that your world will change.
Although we all live in the same world, our experience of it will differ according to who we are.
The same world that makes you angry and frustrated when you are a loser on a losing side, will provide you delight and satisfaction when you are a winner who belongs on the winning side.
So the next time you find yourself angry and frustrated at the world, instead of lashing out in anger, use that anger to pursue success instead.
Aim to be like Vijay - no matter what comes your way, be single-minded in the pursuit of victory.
If you are single-minded in the pursuit of success, your wins will definitely be more and mean more than your losses, and when your wins are greater than your losses , you will be pleased with how you experience yourself and your world.
This I promise, is as true as true can be.
