Kota Kinabalu: Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Sabah and Sarawak) Datuk Mustapha Sakmud (pic) said he respects DAP Secretary-General Anthony Loke’s decision to offer his resignation as Transport Minister following the conditional pardon granted to former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak.
Mustapha said he had only just received information about Loke’s decision and had yet to obtain the full details, adding that the matter was expected to be discussed next week.
“I think if there is indeed a vacancy, of course there will be a Cabinet reshuffle,” he said, adding that any changes to the Cabinet would be determined by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
Mustapha said the Government would wait for further developments before drawing conclusions on Loke’s position, while respecting the stand taken by the DAP leadership based on its principles.
“At the moment, I have not received the latest information, but I respect the stand taken by DAP leaders, particularly Loke, based on the principles he believes are for the good of this country,” he said.
