SANDAKAN: Four welfare institutions and two community-based rehabilitation centres in the district received aid from the Sabah Elected Representatives' Wives Charity Organisation (Mutiara GRS) during a charity visit programme on Wednesday.
Chief Minister’s wife and Mutiara GRS president Datin Seri Juliah Salag said the visit formed part of the association’s ongoing efforts to deliver assistance to welfare bodies across various districts in Sabah.
The beneficiaries comprised the Blind Training Centre at Mile 12, the Disabled Children’s Care Centre and Al-Yakin Orphanage at Mile 1½, the Sri Harapan Old Folks Home, as well as representatives from the Indah Jaya and Beluran Community-Based Rehabilitation Centres (PPDK).
Juliah said that although the contributions were modest, Mutiara GRS remains committed to conducting welfare activities within its means while inspiring capable individuals and organisations to support the underprivileged.
Also present were Senator Datuk Anna Bell Perian, Sungai Manila Assemblyman Datuk Hazem Mubarak Tun Musa and his wife Datin Merdiline Albaris, as well as Sandakan Municipal Council President Datuk Walter Kenson and his wife Datin Ivy Wong.
