Kota Kinabalu: Pertubuhan Muafakat Titipan Amal Isteri Wakil Rakyat Sabah (Mutiara GRS) has reaffirmed its commitment to charitable work by contributing RM10,000 to the Palliative Care Association of Kota Kinabalu (PCAKK).

Mutiara GRS President and wife of the Chief Minister, Datin Seri Juliah Salag, said the visit aimed to support the association’s ongoing efforts to provide palliative care for patients in need and help improve their quality of life.

“This morning, Mutiara GRS visited palliative patients in Kota Kinabalu to deliver a small contribution to support their activities. We hope what we’ve given today brings joy to the children under PCAKK’s care,” she told reporters following the Mutiara GRS Charity Visit to the PCAKK Centre on Monday.

Juliah said Mutiara GRS remains committed to its service mission, with plans to expand outreach and welfare programmes across Sabah, particularly in rural communities.

“Tomorrow (today), we will visit the Community-Based Rehabilitation Organisation (PPDK) in Tanjung Aru, which also supports families and orphans affected by road accidents.

“On Aug 21, we will head to the interior, specifically Telupid, for a joint charity visit involving three State Assembly constituencies. Alhamdulillah, several areas have already received assistance, with over 50 recipients per constituency, and the involvement of more than five PPDKs at each location,” she added.

Founded several decades ago, PCAKK depends on public and organisational donations to meet its monthly operating costs of approximately RM40,000. It offers home care services, symptom management, training for caregivers, and loans of medical equipment to patients in need.

During the same programme, Mutiara GRS also celebrated the birthday of nine-year-old Hazira Azilan, who suffers from idiopathic lung disease and GERD, as well as 58-year-old Net Modili, a breast cancer fighter since age 43.

Also present were Mutiara GRS Vice President II Datin Seri Linda Ewit, Vice President III Datin Dg Siti Noor Hayyat Ag Mohd Saufi, and PCAKK President Datuk Jaswant Singh.
