MANILA, Philippines—The Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System Regulatory Office (MWSS-RO) on Monday ordered Maynilad to pay its 165,518 customers bill rebates amounting to P54,283,839.29 for service interruptions in March.
In a statement, the MWSS said that Maynilad should pay each affected customer P327.96. The payment should be reflected in the May billing period.
"In March 2026, we monitored that there were prolonged and recurrent water service interruptions at southern portion of the West Concession area. Based on our investigation, Maynilad was found to have breached its service obligation to ensure the availability of an uninterrupted 24-hour water supply at a minimum pressure of 7 pounds per square inch to 165,518 connected customers within the Putatan and Poblacion Water treatment supply zones, particularly those in Las Piñas City, Muntinlupa City, Parañaque City, Imus City, and Bacoor City," it said.
The Manila Times reached out to Maynilad for comment on the order, but the company has yet to send a reply.
