Kota Kinabalu: When MYAirline started operations into the State Capital and Tawau early last year, state government, tourism authorities and industry players welcomed its role to bring in more visitors as well as providing affordable airfares to Sabahans travelling to and fro West Malaysia.

Dominant low-cost airline AirAsia then had about 50 per cent share of Malaysia’s domestic market, with Sabah as one of its top profit centres, including air cargo transportation.

Former MyAir CEO Rayner Teo told Daily Express that MYAirline had nine leased aircraft with commitments for several more.
