Myanmar cook stabbed to death after argument over food quality at ala Thai restaurant in Bukit Mertajam; three suspects arrested
BUKIT MERTAJAM: A Myanmar cook was stabbed to death following an argument over food quality at an ala Thai restaurant in Lorong Bukit Juru last night.
The 9 pm incident also left the woman’s husband and friend, both Myanmar nationals, with bodily injuries.
The altercation began when the suspect and several compatriots expressed dissatisfaction with their meal.
All parties argued with the victim and her husband, both in their 40s, before the woman ordered them to leave the premises.
The suspect then contacted his brother and returned to the restaurant, stabbing the victim to death with a knife.
Penang Police chief Datuk Azizee Ismail confirmed the incident and subsequent arrests.
“Police have arrested three Myanmar men, including the suspect and his brother, to assist in the investigation,” he said.
“The suspect is believed to have been drunk at the time of the fight.”
Investigations are being conducted under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
