A 25-YEAR-OLD Myanmar national was found dead with severe injuries to his abdomen and neck at an orchard house near a fish pond in Kampung Kelawar near Tanjung Malim, police said on Tuesday.

Muallim district police chief Superintendent Mohd Hasni Mohd Nasir said the police received a report at about 11am from a local man, who is also the victim’s employer, after he discovered the body during a visit to the orchard.

He said the employer noticed that the door to the house was open before finding the victim lying on the kitchen floor. The location of the incident is estimated to be about 1.5 kilometres from the main road.

“Initial examinations found the victim covered in blood and fully clothed. The severe injuries are believed to have been caused by a machete, with stab wounds to the abdomen and slash marks on the neck,” he said in a statement issued on Tuesday night.

Mohd Hasni said that based on information received and further investigations, police have detained two Myanmar men, aged 39, to assist with the case. He added that an application for a remand order would be made to facilitate further investigations.

The victim’s body has been sent to Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital in Ipoh for a post-mortem examination.

Mohd Hasni also urged members of the public with information related to the case to contact the Muallim district police headquarters’ Criminal Investigation Division chief ASP Mutazlim Hamdan at 011-10912754 or the Muallim district police headquarters at 05-4528222.

The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code. - January 31, 2026
