THE Malaysia Competition Commission (MyCC) has opened its second public consultation on the final draft of its Market Review on the Digital Economy Ecosystem, inviting feedback on proposed recommendations aimed at ensuring fair competition in Malaysia’s digital marketplaces.
Undertaken under Section 11 of the Competition Act 2010 [Act 712], the review assesses competitive dynamics and potential regulatory concerns across five strategic areas: mobile operating and payment systems, e-commerce marketplaces, digital advertising services, online travel agencies, and data privacy and protection as a cross-cutting theme.
According to MyCC, the recommendations are the result of extensive engagement with stakeholders, including government bodies, industry players, associations, and the public, through focus groups, interviews, and written feedback received during the earlier interim consultation.
The commission stated: “This initiative reflects our continued commitment to fostering a level playing field, particularly for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and startups, by proposing practical and actionable measures to remove market barriers and promote inclusive growth.”
MyCC is calling on all relevant stakeholders to take part in the upcoming session, which will be held on 19 August 2025 from 8.30am to 2.00pm at the AICB Centre of Excellence in Kuala Lumpur.
Participation is free, and registration must be completed by 18 August via [https://forms.gle/JdHEwQ9VxXD1Sdwh8](https://forms.gle/JdHEwQ9VxXD1Sdwh8).
